Description

The artificial ice is a firm form of carbon dioxide (CO2). On appearance reminds ice (the name from here).

Temperature of an artificial ice is-78,33 °C. Under usual conditions (atmospheric pressure and room temperature) passes into a vaporous state, passing a liquid phase. This phenomenon is called sublimation.

Carbon dioxide (CO2) has no smell, taste and color, is not toxic, does not install electrical equipment and does not ignite. CO2 makes about 0,03% of the atmosphere of the earth and is one of the major gases. It is the only source of the carbohydrates made by plants.

CO2 stimulates growth of plants and participates in natural regulation of temperature of the globe. The gas exhaled by people and animals adds to the atmosphere 28 million tons of CO2 a day while the industry adds 25,000 tons of CO2 a day and 95% of this quantity are made from by-products (0,04% of other sources).

Thanks to very low temperature, the artificial ice is often applied to freezing and storage of products in the frozen look.

For receiving an artificial ice it is necessary to squeeze gaseous CO2 to a liquid state, having at the same time removed surplus of heat. Liquefaction of gaseous CO2 happens with a pressure about 60,7 kg/cm2 at the room temperature. Then the drosselirovaniye of liquid CO2 is made. The part of liquid is evaporated, having turned into gas, cooling the rest. When cooling up to the temperature of an artificial ice (-78,33 °C), the part of liquid will turn into ice. This dry ice snow is pressed before receiving large blocks or granules of various forms. The artificial ice is approximately twice heavier usual.

Table 1. CO2 properties.

Molecular weight 44,01
Density (in a firm look) 1561,8 kg/m3 at-78,33 °C
Density (in the liquid state) 1020,4 kg/m3 at-17,78 °C
Density (in a gaseous look) 1,97 kg/m3 at 0 °C
Thawing temperature - 56,61 °C at 11,6 kg/cm
Transition coefficient from liquid in gas 8,726 at-17,78 °C
Transition coefficient from liquid during snow 0,46 at-17,78 °C
0,57 at-48,33 °C

The thermoenergy which is available in substance can be used for cleaning of surfaces

Artificial ice - the safe, not abrasive, not installing electrical equipment material. It does not change structure of materials, does not round corners and does not damage a surface.
